MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) has the following main characteristics:
Uniform internal structure: MDF has a uniform internal structure, moderate density, good dimensional stability and small deformation. Its physical and mechanical properties such as static bending strength, internal bonding strength, elastic modulus, board surface and board edge screw holding force are better than particleboard.
Surface flat and smooth: MDF surface is flat and smooth, which is convenient for secondary processing. It can be pasted with rotary cut veneer, sliced veneer, paint paper, impregnated paper, or directly painted and printed for decoration.
Excellent processing performance: MDF is easy to cut, punch, and carve, and is suitable for a variety of processing methods to meet different design requirements. Its mechanical processing performance is similar to that of wood, and some are even better than that of wood. It is suitable for sawing, drilling, mortising, milling, sanding and other operations.
High stability: Due to its moderate density, MDF has good resistance to bending and deformation, and is not easy to expand or shrink due to moisture. Modern MDF production mostly uses formaldehyde-free or low-formaldehyde adhesives, which meet environmental protection standards.
Cost-effectiveness: Compared with solid wood materials, MDF has lower costs and high utilization rate, reducing waste. MDF has a large format and thickness ranging from 2.5 to 35 mm, and can be produced according to different uses.
Environmental protection: Modern MDF production mostly uses formaldehyde-free or low-formaldehyde adhesives, which meet environmental protection standards.
Wide applicability: MDF is widely used in furniture manufacturing, building decoration and the production of various wood products. Its surface is often covered with melamine or wood veneer, which has the characteristics of moisture resistance, corrosion resistance, wear resistance and high temperature resistance.
